Bio

Anna Narday

I have spent over 30 years pushing the boundaries of acrylic paint, engaging in a lifelong dialogue with various materials and textures, not just canvas. At times I have incorporated glass, wax and wood into my work to add depth, texture and form. Stylistically my work is Expressionism and Abstract Expressionism, having been greatly influenced by Kandinsky, Malevich, Rothko and Pollock along with the great Canadian painters, Emily Carr and Lawren Harris.

I served as Creative Director, overseeing visual strategy and nurturing a collaborative, innovative art team. In my free time I produced, wrote and designed a series of children’s books – Clay and Katie (https://annanarday.wixsite.com/clayandkatie) and Custom Children's Books for others. (https://annanarday.wixsite.com/custom-books).

I continue to experiment with painting styles and subjects. After a visit to New York City my surroundings were vibrant and stimulating, offering a completely new sensory perspective. I returned renewed in my commitment to painting and expressing within everyday settings and objects. Lines, light and shadow now hold the same weight as color, balance, and rhythm on the canvas.

Since retiring, I’ve embraced a quieter life in Peterborough allowing me to fully focus on my art. I was featured in the First Friday Art Crawl as well as exhibitions at Amandala's Fine Dining, the Ptbo Public Library, and the Ptbo Ale House. I am pleased to announce my upcoming exhibition at the Artspace Annex Gallery in Peterborough Ontario.
